Douglas H. Stimers
1953-1959
Rev. Douglas h. stimers, together with his wife, June, children Lynda, Ruth, Paul, and Timothy, accepted the call to the church and arrived here from Midale, Sask., Canada on February21, 1953. Mrs. Stimers was a beautiful soloist, and as choir director added much to the services of the church. His years here in the ministry were ones of endeavor, expectancy, and accomplishment. His goals were: to evangelize the lost, deepen personal spiritual experiences, more effective personal service, church leaders in the community, assistence in the work of the Conference and Camps, increased missionary interest. The Gulliver work was effectively continued. The semi-annual U.P. Conference was held here in October 1955. During his stay, many good films were shown, and many missionary speakers and evangelists held meetings. The Boys’ Brigade was organized with Elwood Erickson as leader. Rev. Stimers resigned October7, 1959, and left to minister in the First Baptist Church, Manistee, Michigan.
