Merle L. Amundson

In answer to prayer Rev. Merle Amundson accepted the call to Bethel Baptist Church in mid May, 1974. Pastor Amundson, his wife Linda, two daughters Mindy and Kayla began an immediate work herethe feeding of the flockand a great concern for the lost. A third daughter, Mistin Joy was born in July, and she is the first newbornbaby girl to live in the parsonage.As the first year of his ministry is drawing to a close, the church is in a perpetual state of intensive evangelism. Over two hundred people have recieved Christ as Saviour and several have been Baptized. 35 members have been added to the church. The pastor has added greatly to the musical ministry of the church with his own singing. Under Pastor Amundson asuccessful Awana program was started in September 1974. Within a six month period our Awana club had grown into the largest in the U.P. Our boys team were the Olympic champions in the U.P. and Northern Lower Penninsula. Under his leadership, there was a multi-purpose building (a gym) constructed.
