Frithiof Elmgren

 1926-1936

Rev. Frithiof Elmgrenaccepted the call of the church, arrived with his wife and two daughters, Eunice and Jane, and stepped into the work as of June 1st, 1926, as the next regular pastor of the church. Like Rev. C. A. Johnson, he considered that the happiest years of his life were spent in co-labor with this church. During Rev. Elmgren’s ministry, a thorough repairing of the church took place, which cost aproxamately $2,000.00 and was financed by the Mission Circle of the church. He always had a word of praise for th ladies’ society and in one of his historic sketches of the church, he made the claim that the church had the best Ladies Society of the denomination. A number of members were added to the church, several were excluded, some moved, and many, both young and old, recieved their eternal reward. The membership of July, 1935 was 136 members. He left November 30th, 1936, to become pastor of the Roseland Swedish Baptist Church, Chicago, having served the church ten years and six months. His pastorate is the longest in the sixty year history of the church. Pastor Elmgren was suddenly summoned to his eternal reward in the summer of 1944, while serving the Rockford Baptist Church, Rockford, Michigan.
